Brittany Søndberg (b.1982) is a mixed media artist living in Greensboro, North Carolina. She is a Professor of Art at Greensboro College as well as the current president of the Tri State Sculptors Association. She received her B.F.A. from East Carolina University in Metal Design in 2004 and her M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Sculpture in 2015.
A background in studio jewelry influences her sculpture materially and symbolically. Her work is intuitively constructed and inspired by passing time, unintelligible interiority and the abstract idea of relationships both between people and to the past through eroded and altered memory. The translation is completely open to interpretation. The resulting form is an artifact of the process; her intentions and specific ways of enacting the material.
